Charles Haine is a filmmaker/entrepreneur who has been working in the motion picture industry since 1999. After completing his MFA from USC in 2005, he has worked as a freelance director across music videos, commercials, episodic, and feature films.
Charles has spent two decades as an educator at Brooklyn College, Los Angeles City College, Rutgers University, and Columbia College Hollywood. He currently serves as the Chair of the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema and continues to collaborate with clients including BMW, TBWA Chait Day, Nissan, Paramount, and the Brooklyn Navy Yard on a variety of projects.
Charles recently wrapped production on his first feature film, ANGEL’S PERCH, starring Joyce Van Patten (Grown Ups), Ellen Crawford (ER), Ashley Jones (TRUE BLOOD) and Ally Walker (SONS OF ANARCHY). Shot in West Virginia, Angel’s Perch is the story of a man coming home to take care of his ailing grandmother and finding a connection to himself he didn’t know he had lost. The film was released through Tugg distribution and Gravitas VOD.
Charles has also had a successful career directing book trailers for a wide variety of clients, including the hit trailer PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES; DAWN OF THE DREADFULS for Quirk Books, Chuck Klosterman’s THE VISIBLE MAN for Scribner, Penguin, and Random House. In 2012, Charles worked as the host for UNCHAINED REACTION, a Discovery Channel show produced by Mythbusters. An avid cyclist, Charles is the author of URBAN CYCLISTS HANDBOOK, which has gone on to great success and is currently featured at Urban Outfitters across the USA.
Since founding Dirty Robber Productions in 2008, he has grown it into a business with 12 full-time employees providing production and post services to a wide gamut of clients, in addition to producing two feature films, the Oscar-nominated short film BUZKASHI BOYS and the Oscar-winning short film TWO DISTANCE STRANGERS.
