Eric Doctorow | Meet the MediaU Team

After an extremely successful career managing a large corporate enterprise, in 2006 Mr. Doctorow was chosen to lead MGM’s new worldwide home entertainment business. As General Manager, MGM Worldwide Mr. Doctorow managed MGM’s unique “company within a company” joint venture with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment for five years. He was a key executive in helping to introduce the Blu-ray format as well as re-building the MGM brand with key retailers worldwide. While at MGM, Mr. Doctorow pioneered a long-tail content distribution model now used throughout the industry. This model, called Manufacturing On Demand, allowed MGM to create more value for its vast library than previously thought possible.

Furthering his entrepreneurial passion Mr. Doctorow joined Miramax in 2011. At Miramax, he was part of a new executive team after the company was purchased from The Walt Disney Company by an investor group. As Executive Vice President, Mr. Doctorow helped establish Miramax’s reputation as an important digital player when it entered leading-edge content deals with Netflix, Hulu, Facebook and other platforms.

Also central to his role at AMC Networks is Madden’s oversight of programming for the company’s expanding AMC Studios business, which allows the company to own and control more of the content it brings to fans on its national networks and emerging platforms. AMC Studios produces “The Walking Dead,” the highest-rated series in cable history, and a wide variety of popular and acclaimed originals including “Fear the Walking Dead,” “The Terror,” “Into the Badlands,” “Lodge 49” and others. The studio has also produced the Peabody Award-winning “Rectify,” and “Hap and Leonard,” as well as unscripted series “Cold Blooded: The Clutter Family Murders” and “The Jonestown Massacre” for SundanceTV.

Most recently, Mr. Doctorow founded Random Media in 2014 and brought together a management team consisting of some of the industry’s most experienced executives. The company acquires and distributes films and other content on a worldwide basis through movie theatres, conventional retailers, digital platforms, cable companies and television networks.
